Offline (In-Store) Email Lead Generation

This is part 7 of a 8 part series on Email Acquisition (and Lead Sources) .

What is offline (in-store) as a lead source?

When discussing email marketing — a channel that happens primarily online — it’s easy to forget about offline opportunities. But there are a lot of different ways to generates leads offline just as there are online — especially if you have a brick-and-mortar location.

Here are a few examples/ideas:

  • Business Cards — This is the lowest hanging fruit for promoting your business and even generating leads in person. By handing out business cards, you can bridge the gap between offline and online — when people have your business card with your website URL, they can visit and sign up for your email list. It’s an offline source but the conversion event usually happens online.
  • Post-purchase membership sign-ups — Ever been asked to become a member or offer your email address after buying a product from a physical location? That can be a great way to consistently collect motivated leads from people who’ve already bought your products and proven their interest in your brand. And it only takes a few minutes at the counter.
  • Coupons — Similar to credit-card offers (Get 50% off when you get accepted for our line of credit!), you can offer discounts or coupons at check-out that require an email address. Adding a little extra incentive can make a big difference in how many conversions you get.
  • Conferences — When you go to a conference, networking, handing out business cards, and even having your own booth is a great way to generate leads and build your business image.
