Email Marketing Campaign Ideas - January 2024

The holidays are jam-packed with opportunities to reach out to your subscribers. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Black Friday, and Cyber Monday are all no-brainers for email marketing campaigns.

But what about January?

Well, this month has a lot of opportunities, too!

Our ideas include sending emails around New Year’s Day, your subscriber’s new year’s resolutions, and having a post-holiday sale.

As always, we’ll also provide some subject, segment, and copy ideas!

1. New Year’s Day

New Year’s Day is the cherry placed on top of the holiday season cake. The night before is a time of drinking, partying, and spending time with loved ones. The day itself is about reflecting on the past and looking forward to the future. This is a great opportunity to connect with your subscribers, show that you appreciate them, and wish them a Happy New Year.

This email can be super simple and it shouldn’t include a discount or special offer (save that for future January emails). This email is all about saying thanks and wishing your subscribers a Happy New Year! The more authentic and personal it feels, the better.

Thank you email

Goal Of The Email — The only goal of this email is to strengthen your relationship with your audience by wishing them a Happy New Year.

Segment — You can send this to your entire audience and we recommend doing so! Although you might want to segment when the email sends based on timezone so you’re not sending too early or too late.

Subject Line Ideas

  1. Happy New Year!
  2. New Year, New Us
  3. What does the future hold?

Copy Example

Happy New Year!

Today we’re looking back on all of the stuff that has happened over the 365 days. And we can’t help but be grateful for you: our loyal customers.

Without you, our business wouldn’t be the same.

Thanks for going on this wild ride with us.

2. New Year’s Resolutions

The New Year is full of parties, fireworks, and midnight kisses. But a few weeks later, it’s full of New Year’s Resolutions. Many people use the New Year as a time to reflect on the previous year and set goals for the new year. Why not encourage them? Heck — if your product or service is something which your customers could make a New Year’s Resolution around, then this is a no-brainer promo idea.

Goal Of The Email — The goal of this email is to encourage your subscribers to set New Year’s Resolutions… ideally, surrounding your product or service. A great execution of this might mean creating a challenge, accountability group, or something else you could sell alongside the New Year’s Resolution.

Segment — This email can go to everyone. But if you want to prioritize your most engaged customers or subscribers, then it could just go to people who open, click, or buy the most.

Subject Line Ideas

  1. What’s Your Resolution?
  2. New Year, New You
  3. We Have An Idea

‘Tis the season for New Year’s Resolutions.

And we know that one of the most important things in the world for you is to grow your business this year. So what about this…

What if we did it together?

We’ve created a challenge you can join for the entire year. It’s one price and it’s a commitment for the entire year to do some no-brainer stuff that will help grow your business.

You’ll be doing it alongside other people just like you who are also trying to grow their businesses.

3. Post-Holiday Sale

After the holidays, many ecommerce stores need to offload some of their seasonal leftover stock… which makes it the perfect time for a post-holiday sale. Hold a few flash sales or schedule a week of discounts. Depending on your store and your target market, you could even use the angle of, “Didn’t get what you wanted for Christmas? Go get it for yourself now for 50% off!”

Post holiday sale

Goal Of The Email — The goal of this email is to get some sales by doing a post-holiday promo.

Segment — This can go to everyone!

Subject Line Ideas

  1. Didn’t Get What You Wanted for X-Mas?
  2. Buy Your Own Gifts!
  3. 50% Off Everything!

YES.

You look at the package. It’s the right shape. The right size. You shake it. It makes the exact noise you would expect it to make. It’s got to be JUST what you asked for.

You tear open the package excitedly and give your loved one a knowing look.

Wait.

This isn’t what you wanted.

But there’s a show to put on. You squeal excitedly and say it’s EXACTLY what you were hoping for.

They can’t tell you’re not actually excited… can they?

No they can’t.

But we can.

So go get what you ACTUALLY wanted for yourself over here at 50% off until the end of the day.

Merry Belated Christmas to you, mistletoe.

Final Thoughts

Although it’s overshadowed by a busy Holiday season, January is still a great month for reaching out to your subscribers — by wishing them a happy New Year, encouraging them to make New Year’s Resolutions, and hosting a post-holiday sale.

So try out some of the ideas above and see how they go! Feel free to tweak our subject line and copy ideas to fit your own brand.
