What are co-reg subscribers?
Co-reg is shorthand for cooperative registration, making the full phrase officially “cooperative registration subscribers.” Co-reg subscribers refers to the shared opportunity between a company that has (A) a subscriber registration path, (B) a co-reg brokerage, and (C) a company looking to buy email addresses.
Here’s how it works: the company that collects email addresses online (A) sells those email addresses to a co-reg brokerage (B). Finally, companies who want more people on their email list can buy email addresses from that brokerage (C).
Unsurprisingly, this model of subscription involves some risks, least of which are purchasing low-value subscribers who aren’t interested in the right kind of content. These paid-for subscribers can also hurt a company’s deliverability if used carelessly. Ultimately, co-reg can be an effective way to grow an email list, but it must be done with care and diligence.
